    Hi Jim

    I need to be able to set compile the OSVVM libs uisng VHDL 2008 as I am using some Xilinx libs that are 2008. Questasim wont allow mixed 2008 and 2019. I think its a case of a adding a local setttings file. I added one in the scripts directory but it stil compiles as 2019.
    Thanks
    Jon

    Hi Jon,
    Which OSVVM version are you using? If it is a recent one, the following should work.

    To turn it off, create an OsvvmSettingsLocal.tcl file (see documentation OsvvmSettings_user_guide.pdf) and add:
    SetVHDLVersion 2008

    Next time you start the scripts do the following to verify the version:
    GetVHDLVersion

    After that, recompile OsvvmLibraries and your project.

    These sort of steps are necessary to guarantee that you are running VHDL-2008 as OSVVM is going to setup to use the newest version your version of the simulator supports. This way we can provide you with the best capabilities.

    One thing you gain by using VHDL-2019 is the ability to track VHDL asserts. With Questa if an assert happens, it will be reported. If multiple asserts happen, the count may not be accurate.

    Out of curiosity, is there something in the Xilinx libs that breaks if you use VHDL-2019?

    Hi Jim

    I am having some issues with the local settings file. I created a new file called OsvvmSettingsLocal.tcl from the example. I then set the following in the file. All other items not touched

    variable DefaultVHDLVersion “2008”

    I then set OSVVM_SETTINGS_DIR to a directory. When I call startup.tcl and then GetVHDLVersion it always returns 2019. Seems like its not reading this file for some reason. I am using the latest realease of OSVVM.

    The issue with Xilinx is using this
    Library xpm;
    use xpm.vcomponents.all;
    I get the following error
    (vopt-1659) Mixing VHDL 2019 with earlier versions is not allowed.

    Regards
    Jon
